Super Kit SK-2005R FAQ
Why this is so cheap? We bought 10's of thousands and the LCD is used. (The controller is new). What is the power supply required for this kit? This kit includes a VGA cable that at the computer end has a 2.5mm barrel connector (receptacle) for power that requires 12 volts at 1.5 amps approximate. You can actually input up to 18 volts because the EARTH-RGB controller has a switching dc-dc converter on it. A power supply is not included with this kit! A power supply is available for $25. What about the cable? A custom Y cable connects to the controller to a .1" type dual row header header. The other end has a 6 foot VGA cable and standard VGA 15 pin plug and a 12" wire to a 2.5 mm barrel connector power receptacle molded into it. What about the controller? The controller the EV-RGB is attached to the back of the panel adding no overall thick ness to the LCD module. It generates the power and clock required for the panel. It has three buttons on the back for setting the parameters, centering, phase, etc. It only needs to be set once if left connected to the same computer. Will this panel accept VGA 640 x 480? Yes this NEC panel is unique and that is has scaling built in (to the LCD not the controller) and will also accept 800 x 600 SVGA. The best result and quality is to use it with an XGA 1024 x 768 signal. Will this panel accept NTSC video? No not directly. We have tried Video to VGA converters like the Cheesebox with some success. Since this device like most converts the video to 640x480 and then the panel converts that to XGA the image is jagged. It may be acceptable for a security monitor but not watching movies. (Of course if its hooked to a P.C. video files and DVD's look great.) We are looking into doing a high quality video controller for this lcd, stay tuned! How long will you have this kit? Since we have 10,000+ of the NL10276AC24-02 we expect to have it for at least three years and maybe much longer. Can I use this LCD outside? Not yet (o.k. maybe in the shade or car with tinted glass) but we are looking into backlight enhancement. This is available as an analog monitor as the EarthVue-12R. Where did this LCD come from? This came from a terminal designed for Wall Street. Suggested Applications for this LCD? Man Machine interface, POS customer display. Most interesting application for this product by an Earth customer? (email us yours!!) Tell us yours. Have an interesting question to be added to this FAQ about this product, email us! |
